Whether it is weight loss, increasing endurance, seeing an amazing place, or entering an event…have you given yourself the best opportunity to get it done?

After nearly 20 years of working with people, here is a list of the most common limiting factors that I see, and some possible strategies to overcome them. Good luck!

  1. I started with a full tank and ran out of steam, so I stopped

Bummer! It’s a common one! Get plenty of sleep! and appropriately grade your physical demands over at least 6 weeks. Need a plan? Get in touch with someone who can direct you.

2. I got sore and I got worried, so I stopped

Soreness is a natural part of taking your body into unaccustomed activities. Start slow and keep your first 2 weeks of training to 3 x per week to allow for recovery. By the end of the first 2 weeks you will have a snowball effect helping your momentum. Don’t be scared by soreness. If it hasn’t eased after 3-4 days, get in touch with someone who can help.

3. Everyone else packed it in, so I stopped

My question here is, how much do you really want it? There are so many ways to find groups and clubs and teams to help your momentum. Don’t let others dictate your performance.
